Watford huffed and puffed, but managed to pick up three points away at Huddersfield Town.

After the game, head coach Javi Gracia said his players "suffered" in their pursuit of the victory and that the Terriers could have scored an equaliser any time before Deulofeu's second goal killed the game off.

Here's how we rated their performances:

Ben Foster - 6

The goalkeeper didn't have much to do throughout the game and he will be disappointed to have conceded late on.

He made a good stop in the first half to keep out Isaac Mbenza's dipping and swerving effort, but other than that he had very little to do.

Kiko Femenia - 6
During the first half, Erik Durm got the better of Femenia on more than one occasion, but despite that, the full-back never really looked in too much trouble at the back.

He didn't produce much going forward and needs to work on his delivery.

Adrian Mariappa - 6

After stepping up to wear the captain's armband in Deeney's absence, he controlled the game well at the back and made some very important interceptions.

He went to sleep a little bit for the Huddersfield goal at the end, but all in all put in a steady performance.

Craig Cathcart - 6

Cathcart's game was very similar to Mariappa's in that he had a solid enough 92 minutes and a poor, costly 20 seconds at the end.

Nevertheless, Gracia won't be too worried about the momentary lapse from his centre backs and will instead be grateful that their mistake was of little consequence in the end.

Adam Masina - 6

The Italian had a difficult first-half in which Tommy Smith got past him on a number of occasions. However, he rolled his socks up after the break and came out looking a better player.

He still looks a little nervous at times, but is no doubt improving and gaining in confidence after some poor performances earlier in the season.

Will Hughes - 6

The former Derby County man didn't have his best performance and was guilty of playing one or two mindless passes.

He looked a little lightweight to begin with, but adapted to the physicality and had moments where he made things happen in Watford's favour through sheer persistence and hard work.

Etienne Capoue - 6

In a game where few players stood out, Capoue's performance was about as average as they came.

He was solid enough in the middle and didn't allow Huddersfield to dominate the match, but was far from dominant himself.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 7

In a midfield where few stood out, Doucoure was a little bit more impressive than his team-mates.

While not exactly dominant, his passing was assured and at times incisive, and he showed determination to get into the box to effectively create both goals for Gerard Deulofeu.

Ken Sema - 6

The Swedish winger filled in for the absent Roberto Pereyra, but did not threaten as much as the Argentine normally would.

He worked hard on the left, however, and set up the chance for Doucoure that eventually ended up with Deulofeu scoring his second.

He probably did just about enough to keep his place on Tuesday night, if Pereyra is still unavailable.

Andre Gray - 5

The striker ran around a lot, but did very little else.

He looked frustrated when he was substituted midway through the second-half, but it really wasn't his day.

His performance was summed up by a petty second-half squabble with Chris Schindler after he tried to kick the ball out of Jonas Lossl's hand.

Gerard Deulofeu - 8

The former Barcelona man was Watford's man of the match by some distance, after another elegant finish and a second well taken goal from a rebound.

It would be fair to say that the Hornets would not have won the game without him.

SUBS -

Isaac Success - 5

The Nigerian came on in place of Gray in the second-half but was every bit as ineffective and ran a bit less.

He still seems to have a big confidence issue and is not pulling his weight.

Nathaniel Chalobah - N/A

Joined the game too late to make an impact.

Marc Navarro - N/A

Joined the game too late to make an impact.
