Leyton Orient under-18s made it back-to-back wins in the Youth Alliance League after a 3-1 success away at Gillingham.

Jordan Adeyemi scored a brace for the young O’s while Jeremie Sivi was also able to find the target.

Gillingham registered the game’s first meaningful chance when a nice move involving some one-touch play allowed their forward to get in behind the Orient defence, but Rhys Byrne was equal to the effort and palmed away.

The visitors responded with a chance of their own when Brendon Shabani played a perfect long-ball over the top to Brian Ifeanyi, but the goalkeeper got a strong hand to his lobbed effort to beat away.

It was goalless at the break, but immediately after the restart the breakthrough came when Adeyemi stole the ball in midfield, advanced forward and chipped the keeper from 25 yards.

The lead didn’t last though, and Gillingham levelled the scores when their number 10 helped on a long ball forward and his strike partner latched on to coolly beat Byrne.

Orient restored their lead on 72 minutes from a well-worked set-piece as Sivi rose highest to nod home the delivery and, less than five minutes later, Adeyemi made sure of the points for the visitors with a wonderful dipping strike into the bottom corner.

Next up for the youngsters is a trip to Stevenage this Saturday.
